Oh Stockholm, a wondrous, lively city filled with history, culture and welcoming people. With endless opportunities, adventure, and events, Stockholm will surely become a travellers’ new favourite.
Art, History & Culture
Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden – made up of 14 islands, a seemingly never-ending Baltic Sea archipelago, cobblestone streets and home to palaces, cathedrals and historic buildings dating back to the 13th century. It encompasses 53 museums, filled with art, music, dance, theatre, nordic history, Vikings, dramatics and much much more.
Alongside the never-ending museum list, Stockholm is also known for its beautiful Old Town, known as “Gamla Stan”. If you’re new to Stockholm, take a wander down the quaint, vibrant, ochre-coloured streets. Browse through the endless souvenir shops, grab a Swedish snack or visit the Nobel Prize Museum in the centre of the Old Town Square.
As someone who loves a pretty site, Stockholm definitely won me over the second I arrived. Nothing beats the orange, red and yellow buildings that line the waters shore, and no other city can compare with the historic feeling you get while walking through the old town.
Endless Opportunities
While living in Stockholm, I took it upon myself to become acquainted with the continuous job opportunities, internship programs and university programs offered. As a student myself, I came across hundreds of short courses, apprenticeships, undergraduate/masters degrees, and PhD programs offered to students – in Stockholm alone.
Although the knowledge of Swedish is required for many programs, a few English programs caught my eye – (If Stockholm is on your list of places to study, take a look on the links below for programs taught in English) – Along with the great educational opportunities, Stockholm, being a busy, constantly evolving, international city, is also a great place for an internship.
Combine the long history of Sweden with the exceptional Swedish work-life and valuable Swedish inventions and you’ve found yourself an amazing place to gain your internship experience. If you’re in the search for a great internship program, whether it be in fashion, tech, economics or journalism, Stockholm is sure to have the opportunity you’ve been searching for.

Being an expat abroad can be quite lonely, but one thing that can definitely improve your happiness – events! Social events, parties, theatre showings and expat meetups are just a few examples of the type of events that Stockholm offers.
